Dear Future Intern,
I was able to pay for my whole tuition when I was an intern (2003-2004) by sending a heart felt, informational letter to friends and family asking them to consider supporting me financially as I gave nine months of my life to serve my local church, learn more of the bible, and serve my community. Here are some things to remember as your raising support:
- Think of yourself as a missionary. A missionary is person who gives a set amount of time to a nation, region, or city in order to see it impacted by the gospel. Missionaries always raise support so that they don’t have to work or work as much in order to give all their full attention to the people they are ministering too.
- Share from the heart! Make sure to express your passion and excitement as you let people know more about the program and what you will you be doing.
- Know your audience. Understand that some of the people you send a letter too do not know Jesus. Bring up the amazing services you will be doing for your community. Feeding and clothing the poor. Teaching youth about principles that will help them the rest of their lives like a drug and alcohol free life style, abstinence until marriage, respecting authority etc.
- Give them the details. Let them how much the internship costs and ask them to consider helping you. No amount is to much or to little.
I believe in you and cant wait to see what God has for you this year.
