In 2001, Pastors Benny and Wendy Perez along with their son BJ, felt that God was directing them to Las Vegas, Nevada. The Perez family did not originally move to Las Vegas to start a church, but after settling in Henderson they began to pray about starting a gathering for Christians in the South Las Vegas area.
In September of 2002, the first Gathering was held in the Perez home with over 28 people in attendance. It was quickly apparent that they would not be able to accommodate any more people, and the monthly meeting moved to Lamping Elementary School . In January 2003, the Lord spoke to Pastors Benny and Wendy to start The Church at South Las Vegas.
The Church began to grow through an outreach
event, The Golden Easter Egg Hunt. This was not your average neighborhood Easter get-together; it was the largest egg hunt on the east side of town! Families came together and began stuffing eggs, handing out flyers, hanging posters, and gathering donations. The First Annual Golden Egg Hunt was a huge success with over 2,500 people in attendance! Coronado High School Stadium was filled with happy children and grateful hearts.
Two weeks later, The Church held its inception service at Regal Cinemas. The Church quickly grew from a few hundred people over the summer to more than 300 on Grand Opening Sunday in September of 2003. On April 4, 2004, they outgrew the cinema and moved to Coronado High School.
The Church at South Las Vegas moved into their first building on April 2, 2006 and is now ministering to 2,500 people weekly, with over 2,700 people calling The Church their home. The Church at South Las Vegas is one of the fastest growing churches in the Las Vegas Valley . In 2008, The Church purchase 3 acres of land is in the middle of a building campaign to raise six million dollars.
The Church has the privilege of hosting world-renowned speakers who have invested into the life of The Church. The Church at South Las Vegas believes in the vision to see a city, region, nation, and world changed!
